How do you find joy in something you HATE??

So, I know it has been forever since I have posted anything and this isn't cute or exciting but I just need to write it somewhere. One thing that I have been thinking about ALOT lately is how bad I am at being a "housewife" I absolutely hate and find no joy in cleaning my house or doing laundry or cooking or any of that "mom" stuff. It is really frusterating not only for me but Chad too. He is great and will ignore it for a while then he goes crazy and has to have a frustrated day and clean everything up. Then I feel even worse that I let it get to that point. So basically it is somehting that I am going to try and work VERY hard on. I just really wish that I could figure out how to love it. (or at least not hate and dispise it so much) To add to the troiuble I'm BEYOND tired ALL the time. For you that don't know I'm pregnant again (due end of september) and I'm sick and tired all the time. But life has to go on and our house needs to be livable. Anyway I will stop grumbling and go do the dishes or something. I promise to post something fun soon.

and I don't even care enough to get rid of the pumpkins in the back ground!

one thing I did to make it easier and less overwhelming is everyday I do a few jobs; Monday, vacuum, laundry and water plants. Tuesday, dust, sweep and mop. Wednesday, bathroom, vacuum and take the garbage out to the outside trash bin...etc. It makes it so much easier and then the everyday things like pick up toys, clutter and dishes I try to have done before I go to bed (and then Brad can help :)). I know the difficulty of getting things done when you are prego...hang in there! You can do it!!!

We are in the same boat with the housewife stuff. I put of off while "trying" to do stuff like laundry where i get a couple loads through then the clean laundry sits in the laundry room til Jon gets bugged enough and comes and folds it all. Congrats on being pregnant! And when I'm pregnant, ALL bets are off! There is even less cleaning, cooking and child care!! Its a hard time. Some things that have helped me is: for cleaning the FLYlady, you can find it online. I just do the basics to keep the house looking clean, its simple and little by little. And for cooking i watch the food network all day or read fun cooking geared magazines like Rachael Ray or plan meals with a friend or follow a cooking blog, or go to a new different grocery store and find good ingredients. Good luck!

One thing that helps me get through it is listening to a book on my ipod. Harder to do when you're also taking care of kids, but they get used to being ignored. :-) Find a fun book on CD at the library and listen to that while you do boring, mindless tasks. Good luck my friend.

Congratulations on expecting another little one! That's awesome. I know it's hard to do anything while you're pregnant. This is the time when you need the most rest and you need to take care of yourself first before you can take care of other people (and things!). You'll get to the housework eventually. And remember, there's no rule that says us women have to clean the house and cook all the time. Marriage is a partnership and it's ok for men and women to share the day-to-day household chores.

I agree. All bets are off when you are prego! I have to say that I have never loved housework. I do love my family though, so sometimes keeping in mind that I am doing it for them helps. I am also a good surface cleaner, but don't look too close at anything deep. I don't do showers! Hang in there Mrn. It isn't easy. One thing that worked great for me when I was struggling with cooking dinner is that Wendi and I took turns cooking for each other. We each picked one night a week and cooked for both families. It was so nice to know I had another fam counting on me to prepare a meal and SOOO nice to not have to worry about it one day (nor the mess of cooking to clean up). Every week we had 2 good home cooked meals.

Don't be discouraged! Truth is...cleaning toilets, folding clothes, and mopping floors aren't the most glorious jobs on the planet! Can't honestly say that I love the act of cleaning, but I do love to live in the outcome! My mind and life seem clearer and more uplifting when my surroundings are tidy...guess that's what keeps me cleaning day after day and week after week! I divide it up so that my house doesn't become overwhelmingly behind...Monday is laundry, Tuesday dusting, Wednesday bathrooms, Thursday deep clean floors, and Friday kitchen. Whenever I try to tackle it all at once, it is a gigantic job! Slow progress and baby steps get the same result! Be of good cheer! Squeeze in a little pregnancy nap when you can - sleep always makes me feel better!
